I’m Stepfanie Romine, and I believe the rules of healthy living were meant to be flexible.

I’m a writer, health coach and recipe developer living outside Asheville, NC. I live a quiet, active life in the mountains with my husband and our three rambunctious rescue cats. A former newspaper reporter and copy editor, I turned a passion for healthy living into a career. I’ve taught Ashtanga yoga since 2009, and I’ve been an ACE-certified health coach since 2014.


For several years, I was editorial director for a group of healthy living websites. (Read my articlesblogs and recipes.) During that time, I co-authored a healthy cookbook and a diet book that has been named one of the best by U.S. News & World Report.

I’ve since worked on a few other books for wellness brands, and now I write primarily about natural health. In 2017, I devoted myself full time to my writing and health coaching, and I left my job as a copywriter for an herbal supplements company. (Read my latest blogs.)


From national brands to small-town businesses, I help others share their stories and strive to make the world healthier and happier. I spend a lot of time doing yoga, running, hiking and creating healthy, plant-based recipes for me, my husband (an avid cyclist who eats even more than I do) and my health-coaching clients.

My latest cookbook, The No Meat Athlete Cookbook: 150 Whole Food, Plant-Based Recipes to Fuel Your Workouts and the Rest of Your Life, co-written with my friend Matt Frazier, came out in May 2017.
